OUTPOST ICE ARENAS TO HOST FIRST RESPONDERS CHARITY HOCKEY GAME FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS NEW MEXICO
Albuquerque Police Department and Albuquerque Fire Department Team Up to Play the New Mexico All Stars for Charity on Sunday, March 24, 2019
(Albuquerque, New Mexico) Tuesday, March 19, 2019 –Outpost Ice Arenas and the New Mexico Ice Wolves today announced on Sunday, March 24, 2019 the Outpost Ice Arenas hosts the First Responders Charity Hockey Game for Special Olympics featuring Albuquerque Police Department (APD) and Albuquerque Fire Department (AFD) versus the New Mexico All Stars. Before the game from 3:30pm MT to 4:30pm MT there will be a static show by APD and AFD in the parking lot of the Outpost Ice Arenas. The game between APD and AFD vs. the NM All Stars will start at 4:30pm MT.
“We are proud to host this fun and important event that brings the community together for a great cause and it’s all on ice,” said Stan E. Hubbard, owner of the Outpost Ice Arenas and the NM Ice Wolves. “It’s an entertaining day for the whole family with opportunities to meet local law enforcement and fire department personnel, watch an exciting hockey game, possibly win prizes in the raffle and it’s all in support of Special Olympics New Mexico.”
“Through our Law Enforcement Torch Run community policing program our officers and families within Albuquerque Police Department, Albuquerque Fire Department, and the New Mexico Hockey League are helping Special Olympics build an inclusive community for people with intellectual disabilities,” said Oscar Solis, LETR Operations Director. “We won’t just be watching a local charity hockey game, but be part of a collective experience that ensures the joy of sport to over 3,500 Special Olympics athletes and their families.”
The static show prior to the game includes displays of APD and AFD special equipment including APD helicopter, SWAT team vehicles and AFD ladder and tanker trucks. There will also be a raffle during the event with prizes ranging from roundtrip airline tickets, big screen TV, hotel stays and more.
Tickets for the game are $10 for adults and $5 for youth, 16 and younger. Tickets can be purchased online at the Special Olympics New Mexico site at https://www.firstgiving.com/event/sonm/2019-LETR-First-Responder-Hockey-Game/register. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
The Outpost Ice Arenas will also serve as home ice for the recently announced NAHL expansion team, the New Mexico Ice Wolves starting with the 2019-2020 season. As part of ongoing renovations and improvements at Outpost Ice Arenas the rink will be temporarily closed from April 1, 2019 through mid-May 2019 after which it will reopen to the public.
